Craig's list is really a bonus for my business, and while a lot of agents or SEO's will not reveal this, here is how you can help yourself to generate more hits to your website using Craig's list.
Not good with html code? A lot of people are not either.... here is the first step in fixing that problem. first, open an account at http://photobucket.com/ . it will give you the html code that you will need to use on any picture or flyer that you upload to this site. its fast and easy & THE BEST THING IS THAT ITS FREE!!!
Second, use this html code in front of the photobucket code <a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com"> be sure to put your exact website info in where it says "http://www.yourwebsite.com/ ".
This way, when people click on the picture, it will take them to your website.
when done properly, it should look like this:

hope this helps you as much as it has me. Please Let me know your progress!! Best wishes,

Thanks for the tip. Do your ads ever get flagged? I thought you weren't supposed to include outside links? Hey, if it's working for you, then don't stop!
Craigslist is a great place to post your listings. Point2agent makes it easy yo post great listings with click-able links to your web site and email.
Here is an example: https://post.craigslist.org/manage/553241587/mgbc4
The flashing banner and logos at the bottom I add.

This is how my posting on craigs list shows up. How can I do it so it just opens without having a link.
Steve, Good one, thank you for posting this. I like the idea of sending people back to my website.
It's a Good Life!

Wow, this is great! Thanks, Steve!

Hey Steve!
Thanks for a great way to help promote my web site. I will get this done right away.

This is one of the best tips I've seen about utilizing Craigslist to the max. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it's worth inserting the HTML code in a Postlets or vFlyer or if that would be redundant.
TRY IT KEN! IT WORKS FOR ME! Steve
Thanks for this information!! IT'S GREAT!!!! It took me a few trys...figures!!! But it worked!!!

Thanks so much. I didn't know the Photobucket trick to getting the HTML code generated for Craigslist. Now I can really spice 'em up! Thanks so much!!
Steve, yet another valuable and unique thread to help us be crafty and get internet exposure. This is awesome and I've never thought of doing this before. I'm going to have to give this a test drive on craigslist.
I wonder if this code would work in front of the postlets.com html they provide for craigslist fliers? hmmm...Might have to give it a try. ;)

Steve,
I love your web page, it's gorgeous! Can you tell where I can find out about HTMLs to craigslist using a Point 2 site (free version)!
Thanks,

sure evette: here is the lesson for that task:
The first step I learned from the techies, was to learn how to cut and paste on the computer and then to analyze html code.
To do this, we go to to craig's list, for learning purposes, click here to this page - Second Step is to go to the top of the Internet Explorer browser then click "View." A tool bar will come down then you click "Source" then go to this section of the code: <h2>* * * * * THERE ARE DEALS ALL OVER VEGAS NOW!!! CLICK HERE * * * * * </h2> anything below this you can use in your posts and put your info in place of mine. then cut and paste and play around with it on craigs list til you get it right.
Third step will be to go over and start cutting and pasting parts of the code on the ad that will work for you, like how to make fonts bigger, and how to get different colors to appear. For other info, on like how to show pictures or put flyers up on craigs list click How To Generate Website Hits To Your Homepage!
Hope this is helpful, and remember you learned it on Active Rain. Be well, and may you have lots of success and sales from this. - Steve Harless - www.ViewLasVegasRealEstate.Com
THanks for the lesson, Steve...I am bookmarking this for a tutorial. Thanks a lot from a 'not so techie' person!

Can you shed a little light on the number of unique visitors you generate from Craigslist, and how this compares to the other traffic sources to your site?
Great Idea, I guess this would work with anything that was aset and someone clicked on uh.
Boston Condo Guy - I am under contract with an extremely talented SEO Expert. He has asked me to not reveal any site stats from the work he has done. and that includeds craig's list info.
Thanks Steve That is really neat! I have so much to learn.

Steve, strictly speaking, your code is incorrect. It should be followed by a closing </a> tag, as follows:
<a href=http://www.viewlasvegasrealestate.com/ContactUs><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i250/artmaniac/trump/trumpo.jpg"></a>
Steve....great tips for pictures. I post on Craigslist as well as Backpage. Craigslist helps with the links to the website but backlinks are nofollow links which doesn't help you with pagerank. Backpage is the same as Craigslist but DOES help with pagerank.
sergio: of course backlinks are good for sites....I am not disputing that. this tutorial is for people who receive nada hits for their page, thus titled" How to Generate Website Hits To Your Homepage!"
Oh I can't wait to use this. Thanks for the information and best wishes for a great new year.
kari: hope you get the same results I have gotten...its a wonderful tool
steve
I like this idea. I have not used craigslist as of yet, as it is very overly used in my neck of the woods. I think I may give it a try, since I recently have a new listing.
Troy: if you don't use it...your competition WILL!
Very Helpful. Thanks and Success!
