The average U.S. retail gasoline price dropped 23.7 cents over the last week to fall below $3 a gallon for the first time since mid February and is at the lowest level in almost a year, the Energy Department said on Monday.
The national price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.91 a gallon, the cheapest since October 29, 2007, but still up 9.1 cents from a year ago, the department's Energy Information Administration said in its weekly survey of service stations.
The average pump price has fallen 57 cents a gallon in the last two weeks because of cheaper crude oil and lower petroleum demand due to a weak economy.
I saw today at the corner of charleston and decateur gas was priced at 2.97 and was shocked! what is gas in your neighborhood?

By us I seen under $2.50 per gallon. Bergen County New Jersey.

Is a good thing... a positve in the financial markets. Is amazing how fast oil dropped !
At trop and ft apache yesterday I wanted to do cart wheels when I passed the AM/PM and it was under $3. The fills on Durango/Arby (where I normally fuel up) was getting near $3 but still slightly over. That AM/PM gas burns too quickly so I purchase Sinclair or Chevron.
$2.69 at the pump in my area ... so my personal net is $2.29
wow! thats cheap
We were at $2.89 yesterday, it was the first time in months that I was excited to go to the gas station :)
HI STEVE!
Isn't it just WONDERFUL!! I can fill my Expidition up for $50 again!!! Woo hoo!! It's $2.49/gal here. Now, how long will it last?
amazing but not unexpected. normal market conditions of supply and demand taking effect. Hopefully, our demand continues to lower or stay lower driving the price down further.
$2.28/gallon is the lowest I've seen in DFW so far. Everytime I find a lower price, I top off the tank!
Amanda: wall street is the culprit of all gas problems in the past and future. greedy traders bidding everything up.
